Welcome to the 86th annual SHAPE Colorado convention.

We have been on a great journey this year as an organization.  We redesigned our SHAPE Colorado website to be more user friendly.  We relaunched the site in May with a 50 million strong video contest that was a hit.  We hired a new Executive Director, Terry Jones in July.  We had a strong showing at the SHAPE America SpeakOut! Day and the SHAPE Colorado Lobby Day to advocate for Health and Physical Education.  And we partnered with the Colorado Department of Education to do over 43 Professional Development events across the state.  This has been a busy year for SHAPE Colorado!

I am excited that you are here at convention with us.  The SHAPE Colorado Board has worked hard to create a program full of useful and exciting presentations.  We have multiple sessions for Adapted Physical Education, new game ideas, sessions on grading, and new ideas for promoting Jump Rope for Heart.  We are also honored to have Dr. Jackie Lund, SHAPE America President with us.  This is the 30th anniversary of when she was SHAPE Colorado President. Please stop by and introduce yourself to her.

Along with all of the great sessions, I encourage you to join us for the VIP Tour of the Olympic Training Center on Thursday night.  There will be Silent Auction on Friday to benefit the Cindy Young Scholarship Fund; this fund is to give assistance to future professionals across the state. Also, don’t miss out on all of the great meals that are included in your convention registration. Lastly there are so many great exhibitors at convention this year please make sure to stop by and see what valuable information they have to offer to your students.
